Description

In the forests of Wisconsin there is a place of Magic... A man named Alex Jordon decided to create a retreat for himself on a column of rock... He built the house himself, climbing it with the materials nessesary (including the stone and timber)... As word got out that something special was being created, people started flocking to see... It soon got to the point that Alex realized there would never be the peace he intended, so he did the next best thing... He started asking admission... People were glad to pay for the chance to tour this unique work of genius, and The House on the Rock was born...

Alex was a collector of collections, he filled it with items from around the world, to amaze the induviduals who came there... This is NOT a Museum, no word so cold and devoid of creativity could be given to a place so full of whimsy and life, it's halls a mesmoring cacophony of unusual items and architechure... It is a breeding ground for imagination, creativity, and free thought... If anyone has the chance to go there, I recommend it bar none, you will not be dissapointed... Just have several hours to spare... :)

This series is respectfully dedicated to Alex Jordon, with whose passion and creativity was born a place like no other in the world, and poet's soul shaped a place that makes you think there could be a better existance around the corner, if only we tried...

Please note that many of these photos will be VERY busy, as the place is packed, and no flash was used to perserve the feel they intended... Some blurring may be present on a few from the movement of the object...

A small zen outcropping in the house... Flowers and trees grow inside as well as out... A bamboo birdcage sits with it, though no captive inside... :)
